I don't know about you but I'm in my full tuxedo as I type this article!

Welcome to the first annual Nubbies where we will be handing out awards in a number of exciting categories.

Since launching Biddulph Nub News in June we have posted hundreds of stories all about Biddulph, so there are plenty of contenders, but there can be only one winner in each category.

So without further ado, here are the winners of the Nubbies 2020 awards...

Photography of the Year

For our first award of the night, the Photography of the Year awards goes to Kayla Powell, who has been taking great pictures all over the town this year - you may have even seen some of them at the top of our articles!

To find out more have a read of our interview with Kayla here.

The Up Close award for Best Local Business

With all the trouble caused by Coronavirus this year, it's been a particularly hard time for local businesses, but we have seen some amazing resilience in Biddulph with people adapting to the times.

With this in mind, receiving the Up Close award for Best Local Business are Mandy Cooper and Andrea Day, for their Funky Masks and Mandy's Masks businesses.

Read our interviews with them here and here to find out more.

The Rewind Award for Best Historian

Helping people to share and learn about Biddulph's history is a great thing to do, and with this in mind, the Best Historian award goes to Laura Chapman, who runs the Biddulph in Photographs (Past and Present) Facebook page.

Read our interview with her here to find out more.

The Breaking Award for Biggest Breaking News Story

Unfortunately not all news can be good news, and sometimes the more grizzly elements of the news are also the ones that receive the most attention.

Our most viewed story this year was a fight between a group of teens believed to be armed with weapons, and therefore that story is the recipient of this award. Read it here.

The Community Award for Best Local Cause

There are so many amazing local causes that have been featured on Biddulph Nub News this year.

It has been an especially hard time for many, so these causes really make a huge difference to people's lives in the town.

Every single good cause and act of kindness is so valued, however we must pick the winners, and receiving awards this year are Biddulph Youth and Community Zone for their Free Food Fridays and the Green Tree House Café for its community food club.

Thanks for everything you do for the town!

And that concludes our first annual Nubbies - doesn't quite go on as long as The Oscars, you'll probably be pleased to hear.

So thank you for reading, and thank you for all of your incredible support this year.
