The Staffordshire Moorlands has ranked among the 10 highest Covid rates in England, according to recent Government figures.

An interactive map on the Government's website showed that the Moorlands had a rate of 476.5 cases per 100,000 population - the eighth highest rate in England.

Nub News reported recently how local schools have introduced new measures, such as the reintroduction of face masks, in an effort to curb the rising cases.

The high case rate comes despite the Moorlands having one of the best vaccination rates in the country.

We also reported earlier this month that latest NHS figures show that almost 91% of adults in the Staffordshire Moorlands have had at least one jab, which is over 74,000 people. Almost 85% of adults have also had their second vaccine.

However, the Moorlands doesn't have the highest Covid rate in the UK despite falling in England's top 10.

Tamworth has an even higher rate of 507.4 cases per 100,000 population, which places it as the 7th highest in England.

Cannock also has a high case rate of 471 cases per 100,000 population, meaning it is the 10th highest in the UK.
