Thousands of pounds have been raised for a local charity, thanks to a Biddulph woman's fundraising raffle in honour of her dad who is suffering from brain cancer.

Nub News reported recently how Biddulph's Martha Brough decided to raise money in aid of local charity Douglas Macmillan Hospice by holding a raffle, with the winner receiving a free portrait of them and their family, created by Martha.

Martha said she wanted to raise money for Dougie Mac in honour of her dad David Brough, who unfortunately is currently battling stage 4 brain cancer, and is being helped with his illness by the local charity.

And Martha's fundraising efforts have had a huge impact - raising an incredible £2,354 in total for the hospice.

The family presented the cheque to Dougie Mac this week, which can be seen in the picture at the top of this article.

Martha said: "Today we presented the cheque to Dougie Mac for a whopping £2,354!

"We just wanted to say thank you so much to everybody who donated and supported our fundraiser, we are so, so grateful.

"Dad's doing okay at the moment and we're really enjoying slow family days. Love to you all!"
