This month's Biddulph Artisan Market, which was due to take place tomorrow (6th August), has been cancelled due to a chance of thunderstorms.

Biddulph Nub News reported earlier this week how the Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Biddulph and its surrounding areas, with the town set to be hit by storms tomorrow.

The warning is in place from 10am - 12 midnight on Friday this week, with slow moving thundery downpours predicted in the town throughout the day.

A spokesperson for Biddulph Town Council said today (Thursday, 5th August) that tomorrow's market has been cancelled for this reason.

They said: "Friday has been given a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms and so sadly we will need to cancel tomorrows market."

The market is held on the first Friday of every month outside Biddulph Town Hall on the High Street.

It takes place from 9am - 3pm and boasts a wide array of local traders and stalls.

Tomorrow's market was due to host a range of stalls including: Cheshire Pies, Staffordshire Savoury Eggs, Flash Brewery, Select Fish, Darwins Pet Shop Sue Booth, Aphrodite Designs, Happy Creations, Abbi Through the Ears, Made with Love, Ruth Breen, LJB Plants, Biddulph Local People's Project, Biddulph U3A and the Green Tree House.

The Met Office says there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater.

They have also warned that spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The warning also comes with the advice that, where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

The next Artisan Market is currently due to take place on Friday, 3rd September.
