Biddulph Town Council has given its support to the installation of double yellow lines on a single track area off Conway Road.

At a meeting last night (Tuesday), councillors voted unanimously in support of introducing the lines on the crescent section of the road, which runs around a green area and meets with Harlech Drive.

The town council will now write a letter to Staffordshire County Council requesting that the double yellow lines be installed.

The agreement was made following a request by town Cllr John Redfern, who felt that the lack of double yellows on the single track area was causing residents issues.

He said: "This is a simple request for the town council to ask the county council for double yellow lines on the single track road.

"Even if people park there responsibly, because it's single track it means people can't get out. I'm trying to work closely with the county council to get this resolved, so I'd like the support of the town council."

Biddulph's mayor, Cllr John Jones, supported the idea, saying: "I fully support this, although I worry that we'd struggle to enforce it."

Councillors then took a vote, confirming that a letter in support of the installation of double yellow lines would be sent to the county council.
