Two more deaths from Coronavirus in Moorlands, bringing total to 78

Seventy-eight people have now died from Coronavirus in the Staffordshire Moorlands, the latest figures have shown.

Two more people from the district died from the virus in the week ending Friday, July 10th, according to the new weekly statistics released earlier today (Tuesday).

One of the new deaths occurred at home, with the other death taking place in a care home.

In total, 55 of the 78 Coronavirus deaths occurred in hospitals, 15 took place in care homes, three people died in "other communal establishments", three died at home, one died at a hospice and one death was recorded "elsewhere".

Coronavirus has been involved in around 12% of all deaths in the Moorlands since the start of the year, with 654 people dying from all causes in the district so far in 2020.

There have been 373 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Moorlands since the pandemic began, and 3,774 in Staffordshire as a whole.
