A Biddulph boy appeared in the grand final of a TV cooking show starring Fred Sirieix from First Dates last night.
Biddulph Nub News reported yesterday how Cameron, aged 12, had made it to the final of Step Up to the Plate' - a CBBC show that has young contestants going up against eachother to see who would be best at running their own restaurant.
Cameron impressed in the semi-final with his seared salmon with root vegetable fries, and a dessert of crepes with caramalised apples.
The final was shown last night at 5pm on CBBC. So how did local lad Cameron get on?
Cameron kicked off the menu with starters. He said: "I don't know why, but I thrive working in a stressful environment."
He was allocated a dish of oysters, served on a throne of dry ice, dressed with chilli sauce, lemongrass oil and coriander cress.
His second starter was fried chicken with tare sauce, miso mayonnaise, and a luxurious dollop of English caviar.
His fellow competitors, Anya and Sofia, cooked the mains and desserts, while three other competitors faced off separately as part of the restaurant crew.
They faced the challenge of cooking for VIP guests including TV presenters Dick and Dom, and Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Cameron got off to a strong start with his oysters and fried chicken dishes, and had to ensure that his chicken was precisely the right temperature to serve to the guests.
The starters were eagerly enjoyed by the guests, and it was then the turn of Anya and Sofia to deliver their mains and desserts.
It was then time for the judges to give their verdict - saying all the chefs performed very well, and showed their maturity in the kitchen with the professional way they handled themselves.
Then, hosts Fred Sirieix and Allegra McEvedy gave the results to the competitors.
Unfortunately, Cameron did not quite manage to win the whole competition, and Anya was granted the win in an incredibly close call.
However, getting to the grand final is an incredible achievement. A huge well done to Cameron for his brilliant performance!
Cameron said: "I'm proud of myself, and I'm going to continue cooking in the future. I'm going to carry on and try my best."
If you didn't manage to catch the show live, you can still watch it on BBC iPlayer.
