Aldi is finally open in Biddulph, and here at Nub News we were one of the first through the doors to get the first pictures of the inside of the supermarket!
There was a huge queue going round the building of shoppers waiting to get in, with some residents even reporting queues forming as early as 6am this morning -especially dedicated seeing as the sun had only just come up by the time we arrived just before the opening!
The red ribbon was cut promptly at 8am by Team GB gold medallist Joseph Clarke, and the first few shoppers were let through the doors.
Luckily we didn't have to brave the early morning queue to get in as we were let in separately to take a few pictures (VIP treatment!).
Unfortunately we weren't allowed to film inside the supermarket, but we did film the grand opening and red ribbon cutting outside. The video can be watched at the top of this article or on our Facebook page.
As you can see from the pictures, the supermarket has a clean, modern feeling and the shelves are stacked with food as well as all kinds of other items, especially in the middle aisle, which is famed for its weird and wonderful stock.
The first 30 customers through the doors were treated to a free goodie bag by Aldi for their patience in queueing up for so long.
The aisles may look quiet in the pictures, but rest assured there was a huge queue of shoppers waiting outside! These pictures were taken right after the opening, when only a handful of people had been allowed inside so far.
When are you planning on heading to Aldi in Biddulph for the first time? Take a look through our pictures and see if you can spot anything you might like to buy!
We have been promised a press release coming soon from Aldi with even more information about what the store has to offer now that it's open - so watch this space!
