Woodhouse Academy has applied for planning permission to build a new classroom on the school's site.

In an application published on Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's website this week, the proposal seeks permission for "installation of a modular single storey single classroom stand alone block" at the Woodhouse Lane school.

The building will be located within the school grounds, and built partially on the footprint of a previously demolished building.

It has been designed to accommodate approximately 30 pupils and two teaching staff, and will also include a lobby and electricity cupboard.

A design and access statement submitted for the application by Box Architects reads: "The new building is to be a single storey unit made up of two modules and clad in a vertical insulated panelised system colour to be confirmed. Doors are to be dark grey PPC aluminium, the glazing is to be double glaze, and windows are to be uPVC top hung casements in white."

A public consultation on the application begins today (Wednesday) and members of the public can make comments on the proposals until 14th October.

A decision is currently due to be made by the district council's planning officers, although a date for this has not yet been given.
