Woodhouse Academy students self-isolating again after another Covid-19 case at Biddulph school
More Woodhouse Academy students have been told to self-isolate after another positive Covid-19 was recorded.
One of the school's Year 7 pupils has tested positive for Coronavirus, meaning groups of pupils at the school are to self-isolate until Tuesday, 17th November.
It follows a similar incident at the school in October, in which Year 5 students were told to self-isolate as the school recorded a Coronavirus case.
In a letter to parents dated Tuesday, 10th November (yesterday), the school's principal, Deborah Farr, said: "We have been notified by a parent that one of our year 7 pupils has received a positive COVID-19 test result.
"As a result, we have been advised by the Staffordshire COVID-19 Local Outbreak Control Team to instruct certain groups of pupils to self-isolate, following the last point of contact, in line with national guidance. We are asking them to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID-19 to others in the community.
"They will return to school on Tuesday 17th November 2020. This is being done with the intention of keeping the community as safe as possible."
She continued: "The groups that this will affect are 7M, maths set 2 and English set 1 OR any student that has already been contacted regarding isolating.
"To enable us to set up the home learning via Zoom, we are asking students to follow the links on our website for Bitesize and Oak Academy for just Wednesday and the virtual lessons will start on Thursday 12th.
"While these circumstances will cause concern for everybody within our school community, you do not need to request a test unless you are showing symptoms."
At least five schools in Biddulph have recorded Coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.
Biddulph Nub News reported previously how Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy became the fifth school in the town to record a case.
Students at Woodhouse Academy were also told to self-isolate after one of the school's pupils tested positive for Coronavirus.
Students at Biddulph High School who were identified as "close contact" with staff members who tested positive were also previously told to self-isolate.
And Year 7 students at James Bateman Middle School were taught remotely after the school recorded its own Coronavirus case.
Year 9 students at Biddulph High School also had to self isolate following a Coronavirus case recorded in their year group.
