Staffordshire County Council has begun work to repair the pavements around the mini roundabouts at Park Lane in Knypersley, after a lengthy period of ill repair for the footways.

Work began on Monday this week (13th July), in a project that is scheduled to take around four to five months.

Local residents and councillors had long spoken of the need for repairs in the area, with Biddulph resident Ellen Faulkner being one of those pushing for work to take place.

She told Biddulph Nub News: "The pavements above the mini roundabout in Park Lane Knypersley are going to be renewed at long last.

"The pavements are in a bad state of repair and have been for many years. Councillors Ian Lawson, Keith Flunder John Redfern have been doing their utmost to have them repaired for many years.

"I couldn't count how many times I've written or phoned in a hope of having this problem rectified."

At a meeting of Biddulph Town Council last night (Tuesday), local county councillor Keith Flunder confirmed that the repair work had begun.

He said: "On Monday morning the workmen turned up, and they are now starting a 16-18 week repair of the footways along Park Lane.

"That has been a very long-term project that I've been working on. We're getting on top of things a bit better now, and overall we're slowly trying to reduce our backlogged work, and it is slowly getting better, so I will keep pushing this as much as I can."
