A Staffordshire domestic abuse support service is preparing for a possible increase in referrals following the reopening of schools.

Commissioned by Staffordshire police and crime commissioner Matthew Ellis in 2018, New Era provides emotional support, practical help and a range of advocacy services to any children and adults in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent affected by domestic abuse – victims and their families, as well as perpetrators who want support to change their abusive behaviour.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's Local Plan is now ready for adoption provided that a number of modifications are made to it, the plan's inspector has said in his latest report.

The plan outlines how the council will develop the Moorlands in order to comply with Government house building targets, and sets out how many houses will be built in different locations across the district between now and 2033.

The Moorlands has enjoyed a second week in a row with no new Coronavirus deaths being recorded in the district - in fact, only one death has been recorded in all of Staffordshire this week (excluding Stoke-on-Trent).

However, there is still some cause for concern after this week also saw the number of recorded Coronavirus cases in the county climb above 4,000 for the first time.
