A pub in the centre of Biddulph is set to be given a new lease of life after owners revealed that work was well underway to revamp the building.

The building is set to reopen as a pub, as well as having bed and breakfast accommodation, with builders currently working on the renovation process.

The pub's owners unveiled how the work was progressing in a series of images posted to its social media, which can be seen here.

The team behind the project explained that they wanted the space to be "a community pub that brings people together" and added that they were "so excited to come to Biddulph".

A spokesperson said yesterday: "Hello everyone! Let us introduce ourselves. We're The Royal Oak freehouse, new to the town and launching soon! We wanted to give you a sneak peek behind the scenes of what we've been up to.

"As you can see we're renovating this lovely old building and giving it a new lease of life as a beautiful traditional quality freehouse with B&B accommodation.

"We want to be a community pub that brings people together through great beer, wine and spirits plus events and street food!

"We're so excited to come to Biddulph and be apart of this wonderful town, we hope you're excited for us to open our doors and serve you soon. Thanks from The Royal Oak Team!"

The announcement has proved popular with local residents, with one commenting: "Wishing you all the very best of luck in your future venture, it's good to know you're also offering B&B facilities. Look forward to seeing you open the doors."

Another added: "So excited to have a pint, and we have lots of family that come to visit and always need a place to stay!"

While a third said: "It will be good to see the Royal Oak open again, it's starting to look fantastic."

The pub on Biddulph High Street has stood empty for around three years.

There is no reopening date for the pub yet, but its owners say they will provide more details in due course.
