New data released earlier today (Friday) has further localised how many people have died from Coronavirus in each area of the Moorlands.

The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics, break the Moorlands down into different areas, each with a population of between 5,000 and 7,200.

This means that we are now able to see how many people have died from Covid-19 in each local area of the Moorlands, rather than just the total figures for the district as a whole.

The data covers deaths which occurred until June 30th, which were recorded by July 11th.

Several areas of Biddulph are included in the figures, with Biddulph North and Brown Lees being the area of the town with the most deaths. Nine people in this area are recorded as having died due to Covid-19.

Biddulph Central has four recorded deaths, with three deaths recorded in Biddulph Moor and Rudyard, and a further two deaths recorded in Endon and Brown Edge.

Below is the full list of Moorlands areas and their recorded deaths:

  • Leek South and Cheddleton - 14
  • Werrington and Wetley Rocks - 10
  • Biddulph North and Brown Lees - 9
  • Blythe Bridge, Forsbrook and Caverswall - 8
  • Leek Town - 7
  • Cheadle South and Upper Tean - 5
  • Leek East and Upper Hulme - 5
