Thousands of pounds have been raised for a Biddulph nursery's toddler, days after he was very sadly diagnosed with Leukaemia.

Katie and Ryan Saunders welcomed their son Harry into the world in 2019, and he was an identical twin alongside his brother George.

Unfortunately, Harry, who attends Happy Hours Nursery in Biddulph, was taken to see a doctor earlier this month, and was given a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

A crowdfunding page on JustGiving has since been set up for Harry, and within days has already raised an incredible total of over £2,700.

The page was set up by Amy Smith, a close family friend of Katie and Ryan.

She said: "Harry and George were a special addition to the family and are particularly adored by their older brother Ollie.

"We have all taken great pleasure in seeing Katie and Ryan's family growing and they were (and still are) natural parents.

"The Saunders family have shown tremendous courage and strength since Harry's diagnosis. However, a significant diagnosis like this does not come without it's challenges.

"Already, the family have been separated and are spending most of their time apart, with Katie primarily living in the hospital with Harry. Due to the nature of Harry's cancer, treatment is likely to last for a few years and during that time it will not be feasible for both parents to work full time. It will also involve travel to specialist centres and many inpatient stays.

"For this reason, close friends of Katie and Ryan have organised this page to help alleviate any financial strain that this may cause, so that they can focus on caring for all three of their boys.

"Over the course of the year, many friends and family will be proposing activities to encourage you to donate, but at the moment we would appreciate your kindness to support the Saunders family."

Harry attends Happy Hours Nursery in Biddulph, who wished him "strength and the bravery" in his battle against the disease.

They said: "A week ago, our team was broken - we had no words other than 'we will do whatever you need or want.' We then pulled together and redirected our care and concern to the family and what they need right now. We sent the family few bits and bobs in a care package and vowed to be there supporting them every step of the way.

"Fast forward 8 days, our little Harry has had his first of many operations. Three lots of Chemotherapy. A central line. A blood transfusion. A platelet transfusion. Two chest x-rays. Spinal x-ray. Heart scan. ECG. He's the bravest little boy we know and we are so very proud of him.

"Ollie and George have been amazing despite the changes they have faced this week and we are equally proud of those two as well.

"To Katie and Ryan, I know we have said it a million times this week but we really do mean it when we say, anything you need just let us know, there isn't an ask that's too big or equally too small.

"We are wishing Harry the strength and the bravery to fight this fight on the tough road ahead, we are sending positive vibes and millions of hugs and kisses! We love you Harry and can't wait to see you back at nursery when you are up to it little man. In the meantime, we'll keep your brothers occupied so you get some much needed rest and recovery time whilst you are having your treatment. "

The fundraiser is still live on JustGiving, and if you would like to donate to support Harry and his family then please click here.
