An Aldi chief executive has expressed his excitement for the company's upcoming investments around the country, including the opening of a highly anticipated new supermarket in Biddulph.
Biddulph Nub News reported previously how a planning application to build an Aldi in the town was approved.
Following the approval, Biddulph's mayor, Cllr John Jones said Aldi were "fully expecting" to get the store open before the end of the year, in the hopes of having customers through the doors in time for the busy Christmas period.
This timescale has now been echoed by Aldi, who have revealed that their Biddulph store should be opening in 2021.
As well as its Biddulph store, Aldi will also be opening a new store in Tamworth and remodelling an existing store in Burton as part of a £12.4 million investment.
Aldi UK and Ireland chief executive Giles Hurley said: "We have been investing in Britain for more than 30 years now. But we know that there are still areas that either don't have an Aldi at all, or that need another store to meet customer demand.
"With shoppers increasingly looking to make sure they get unbeatable prices on their weekly shop without compromising on quality, our stores are becoming ever more popular.
"This investment in Aldi stores over the course of this year will help make the UK's lowest-priced supermarket more accessible to even more people, and bring us closer to our long-term goal of having 1,200 stores across the UK by 2025."
Nationally, Aldi is investing £500 million in new and upgraded stores, distribution centres and its supply chain in 2021, which the company says will create over 4,000 jobs.
