Another Biddulph takeaway has received a big food hygiene rating upgrade - we paid them a visit to see what's improved!
Another Biddulph takeaway is celebrating after receiving a big upgrade in its food hygiene rating.
We reported previously how Rupeyal on Congleton Road thanked their customers after their rating jumped from a 1 out of 5 to the top score of 5 out of 5 following their latest inspection.
Now another of the town's takeaways has also enjoyed a significant improvement in its own hygiene rating.
The Biddulph Kebab and Pizza House on Biddulph High Street was previously rated a 1 out of 5, indicating food hygiene standards that "require improvement".
But following a recent inspection, that rating has now been upgraded to a 4 out of 5, indicating "good" food hygiene standards.
The rating has not yet been updated on the food hygiene website, but Nub News has been shown a copy of the inspection report which proves that a rating of 4 has now been awarded.
So what's changed? We paid them a visit to find out!
A staff member told us: "We've had new equipment installed in the kitchen, it's all been refurbished, and all of the staff have now completed full food hygiene training courses."
He added: "The only reason we were given a 4 and not a 5 is because it was an appeal of the previous rating, and we were told they can't give a 5 for an appeal. They told us that if it wasn't an appeal then it would've been a 5, and if we continue to maintain the same standards then we will get a 5 on our next inspection."
The latest inspection report shows that the takeaway was given a perfect score in the categories of "compliance with food hygiene and safety procedures" and "compliance with structural requirements". The only category in which they were told to improve was "confidence in management and control procedures".
The report notes: "I was pleased to see controls and documentation in place at the time of the inspection to help make sure food produced at your premises is safe. I hope that you will continue to implement and where necessary improve your food safety procedures. If you are able to maintain this level of improvement on your next inspection, you will be able to secure a higher rating."
