A section green space in Biddulph has been given a new lease of life after we campaigned for residents to vote for the area to receive funding!

We reported back in April how Severn Trent Water had allocated a total of £250,000 to help local communities improve nature and carbon neutral initiatives in their towns - and Biddulph was in the running for a share.

Funding was available for towns that received enough votes, and Biddulph Town Council announced that it had been shortlisted for a grant to improve the area of green space between Halls Road and Briarswood.

Nub News then campaigned for residents to vote for Biddulph to give the area the best chance of receiving the funding necessary for the place to be spruced up.

And Biddulph Town Council have now announced, thanks to your votes, that funding was granted to improve the area, allowing repairs to the steps and handrails to be carried out.

A spokesperson for the council said: "We try to improve community open spaces within the town, where we can.

"In the area between Briarswood and Halls Road, we weren't successful with the whole grant we applied for from Severn Trent - there were lots of very worthy projects. However, we were granted a smaller amount to help to improve the steps and handrails. Here are our before and after photos.

"We still have other plans for this area, but for now, we're happy to celebrate small improvements.

"We are very grateful for the support of the Severn Trent Community Fund in helping us to complete this first stage."

Take a look at the before and after photos in this article to see the improvements that have been made.
