Biddulph bus company offering free travel to help residents get vaccinated

By Jack Lenton 11th Jan 2021

A Biddulph bus company is offering free travel to residents unable to arrange their own transport to get their Covid-19 vaccine.

Hollinshead Coaches made the kind offer today (Monday) in an effort to ensure that nobody who has been offered the vaccine misses their appointment due to a lack of transport.

The offer has already been praised by a range of local residents on social media.

The company said that the vehicles used for this transport will have social distancing implemented, and drivers will be wearing PPE.

One said: "Fantastic, a brilliant example of a local company helping out so that vulnerable people can get vaccinated."

Another added: "That's fantastic! Well done Hollinsheads!"

While a third said: "What a fantastic gesture, well done."

A spokesperson for Hollinsheads said: "Very soon Biddulph will be rolling out the initial batch of COVID vaccinations at the Town Hall.

"If you, or anyone you know, has an appointment but is unable to get transport from the Biddulph area to and from the Town Hall, please contact the office we will arrange return transport for them.

"All we ask is that the person is able to get in and out of the car unaided, or if that is not possible then they be accompanied by someone who can help.

"This is due to our own risk assessments and the need to protect our staff.

"The vehicle we will be using allows for the required social distancing and the driver will have the correct PPE.

"Please don't let anyone miss their appointment through lack of transport.

"We can do this between 8:30am and 2:30pm.

"You can contact Hollinsheads directly or Biddulph Town Council on 01782 297845."

The Hollinsheads Facebook page can be found by clicking here or alternatively give them a call on 01782 512209.
