A popular community café in Biddulph has reopened today after being forced to close for 10 days due to a positive Covid case.

The Green Tree House Food Club and Tea Room on Biddulph High Street is once again welcoming customers through its doors after being closed since 9th July.

The café, which supports the town's vulnerable and disadvantaged residents, explained that they were forced to close due a customer who visited the café testing positive for Coronavirus.

On the day of their closure a spokesperson for the café said: "To all our customers, unfortunately today a customer has been in our shop and has this evening tested positive for Covid and under the current guidelines the shop must close for 10 days.

"We will reopen on the Tuesday 20th July as normal, we do apologise but test and trace have informed us and have informed relevant customers and staff accordingly, so don't worry if you haven't been contacted, you were not in direct link with them.

"Please take care and see you soon."

In an update yesterday the café has now confirmed that it is reopening today, saying: "Yes we are back open tomorrow everyone.

"The food club is open from 10am - 2pm with 10 items for £4.50 and you can double or triple shop.

"We have bacon chicken fillets in, jars of coffee in, multi pack crisps in, so get yourself down, we are open to all."
