A Biddulph dentist could soon be given a new look after it was granted planning permission to refurbish its shop front.

Horizons Dental Practice, on Biddulph High Street, applied to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for permission to refurbish the front of its premises.

The practice has upgraded its logo and branding, and wanted to to install a new aluminium framed shop front that would be mat grey powder coated, to replace the current white painted shop front that is in deteriorating condition.

A report by the district council's planning officers stated: "The mat grey powder coated aluminium would give a neat inviting frontage, that should retain a quality finish with little maintenance. The subdued colour would sit well against the colour used in other nearby frontages, particularly Wells Pharmacy opposite.

"The grey would work well with the accent colours of the purple signage and logo. Overall the development would refurbish and enhance the character and appearance of the premises and high street. It would provide a neat and smart frontage, with contemporary materials, in an off width premises frontage that does not easily lend itself to other design or approach that might be considered more 'traditional'."

The report concluded that the plans "would not cause harm to the character and appearance of the area" and granted planning permission to the application.
