A family-run fish and chip shop in Biddulph is one of the 20 best in North Staffordshire, according to reviews.

Shepherd Street Chippy, run by Clint and Shirley Hollies for over a decade, is the 15th best chippy in the whole of North Staffordshire, according to Google reviews.

The shop averages a whopping 4.6 stars out of 5 from its 186 Google reviews, which the owners put down to providing homemade, fresh food which is cooked to order.

Clint Hollies, aged 56, said: "Our primary focus is on quality. People know they're going to get good quality food when they come to us so they'll make the extra effort.

"We're really pleased that we've received feedback from customers good enough to make the list!"

Clint's wife Shirley is a trained chef and the variety of the food she makes is also key to the shop's success.

The menu not only offers stellar fish and chips but also has a selection of homemade pies, chicken curry, burgers, popcorn chicken and much more.

The shop aims to be inclusive of dietary requirements and has even branched out to doing gluten-free options on Mondays!

Shepherd Street Chippy also does takeaway food and began a delivery service just before lockdown.

Clint added: "It was tough at first because beginning deliveries was like starting a new business and we lost a lot of non-family staff when the pandemic started.

"However, I think we've come out stronger."
