Year 10 students at Biddulph High School will have to begin their summer holidays by self isolating after yet another positive Covid case was recorded at a school in the town.
It's the latest of many cases recorded at several Biddulph schools, with Biddulph Nub News also reporting yesterday how Year 7 pupils at Woodhouse Academy were told to self isolate until 17th July after the positive case was recorded.
Following the latest case at Biddulph High School, affected students will have to isolate until Tuesday, July 20 after being sent home yesterday (Monday) morning.
Headteacher Elizabeth Robinson said: "We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within year 10 at the school.
"It is crucial that your child remains at home during this period to reduce the further spread of Covid-19 to others in the community.
"If your child is well at the end of the 10-day period of self-isolation then they can return to usual activities. Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 10-day self-isolation period."
It is thought that there is currently a record number of school pupils currently self isolating around the country - more than 800,000 did not attend state school in England last week due to Covid-linked absence, an increase of around 30% compared to last week.
That equates to around 11% of all state school pupils in England.
However, school bubbles are soon coming to an end in England, meaning pupils will only need to self-isolate if test positive from 16 August.
