Home Bargains has revealed the dates that it will be closed over Christmas, with the retailer saying the decision has been made to give staff a rest over the festive period.

The retailer, which has a branch in Biddulph, confirmed that it will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

A spokesperson for the store thanked staff for all of their hard work over the year.

They said: "All of our stores will be closing for Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

"We would like to thank all our staff for how hard you have worked this past year, and want you to relax and enjoy the Christmas break with your loved ones."

A social media post confirming the closures has since been met with thousands of likes and comments.

One comment read: "All retail staff deserve a decent break over Christmas. If we can't organise ourselves to get enough food in to last two days it's a poor show."

Another added: "As it should be, everyone deserves to spend Christmas with their loved ones."

And a third said: "I hope other shops do the same. Workers need a break. Work can be stressful and at Christmas everyone is entitled to get a few days off."

During regular opening times, Biddulph Home Bargains store on Wharf Road is open from 8am - 7pm on Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm on Saturday and 10.30am - 4.30pm on Sunday.
