Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is aiming to take the next step in its work to become more eco friendly by recruiting a Climate Change and Biodiversity Officer.

The authority is currently advertising the role on its website, with applications being open until 20th October.

The right candidate will be hired on a permanent, full-time basis and will earn between £31,346 to £36,922 per year.

The council has made climate change a priority since declaring a climate emergency back in July 2019, and is aiming to make the Moorlands carbon neutral by 2030.

Discussing the new role and what it entails, the council said: "High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual to take forward the Councils' response to the Climate Change Emergency

"Working with the Council's Head of Communities and Climate Change, the Climate Change and Biodiversity Officer will take the lead on delivering and updating the Council's response to climate change and biodiversity agendas.

"The successful candidate will work with services across the Council and key partners including the community, businesses, and others to take forward these important agendas.

"Candidates will require a sound understanding climate change, sustainability and biodiversity. They should also have experience of policy / strategy development and have excellent interpersonal skills, including presenting technical information."
