Biddulph's pubs, restaurants, and a wide range of other businesses will soon be able to open their doors to the public after Boris Johnson announced the next stage of ending lockdown.

The changes will come into effect on July 4th - next Saturday - and could see the people of Biddulph as well as millions across Britain getting the first experience of their 'new normal'.

All pubs, bars and restaurants will have to adhere to strict social distancing measures, which means table service must be provided to customers.

Customers must also provide their contact details in case they have to be contacted as part of the government's test and trace programme to contain the spread of the virus.

Discussing the latest easing of the lockdown, the Prime Minister said: "Where it is possible to keep two metres apart, people should, but where it is not, we will advise people to keep a social distance of 1m-plus, meaning they should remain one metre apart while taking mitigating measures to reduce the risk of transmission."

The full list of establishments that can reopen with social distancing from July 4th is as follows:

  • Hotels
  • Bars
  • Pubs
  • Places of Worship
  • Restaurants
  • Libraries
  • Community Centres
  • Cinemas
  • Theatres
  • Bingo Halls
  • Hairdressers
  • Theme Parks
  • Arcades ·
  • Recreation and entertainment venues

Members of two households are also now permitted to meet indoors, regardless of their size, as long as social distancing is still adhered to.

However, certain other businesses such as nightclubs, beauty salons and indoor gyms must remain closed for now.

The announcement comes three months after Boris Johnson first announced that lockdown restrictions had come into effect in Britain.

Explaining the latest announcement, he added: "We cannot lift all the restrictions at once so we have to make difficult judgements, and every step is scrupulously weighed against the evidence."
