Biddulph residents have been asked to share their views on the speed and consistency of broadband provision in the town by a local councillor.
Biddulph town and district Cllr Connor Brady is hoping to gather local people's views on broadband ahead of an upcoming district council meeting next month.
Cllr Brady told Nub News that he is planning to ask Staffordshire Moorlands District Council what action they are taking to improve broadband speeds in the town at the upcoming meeting.
He will ask: "According to a thinkbroadband report on broadband coverage and speeds for UK constituencies in Q1 of 2022, the Staffordshire Moorlands ranks 609 out of 650 for the percentage of premises covered by Superfast broadband (30Mbps) at 90.4%. This ranks below all other Staffordshire constituencies including Cannock Chase, Stafford, and Stoke constituencies.
"What action is the District Council taking, with the County Council, in order to give every house in our towns and villages high speed broadband?"
Explaining his decision to ask the question he added: "I plan to use the two supplementary questions to the portfolio holder to ask about the prospect of free Wi-Fi in the three towns (a report I had been promised years ago), and I also want to raise some of the specific issues that people in Biddulph are dealing with if they have any."
He added that he wanted to gather people's comments, feedback, and opinions about Wi-Fi speed and consistency in the town and how it has changed over the last couple of years.
He said: "It would provide important feedback which we could give to the portfolio holders at the District and County Council as well as the MP so they understand some of the challenges the people of Biddulph face. It would also form the basis of one of my supplementary questions at the Full Council Meeting in October."
Feel free to comment your thoughts on broadband in Biddulph on social media for Cllr Brady to take to the council next month!
