Biddulph Sainsbury's aiming to support local kids with Christmas toy donation appeal

By Jack Lenton 25th Nov 2020

Biddulph's branch of Sainsbury's and Argos is hoping to spread some Christmas cheer to disadvantaged children in the town with its toy appeal.

The supermarket is asking for toy donations to help children who may otherwise not find any presents under their tree at Christmas.

It's hoped that by donating toys to those who are experiencing difficult circumstances this winter, no child will miss out.

Toy bins are available at Biddulph's Sainsbury's and Argos, and Biddulph Town Council is also supporting the scheme, meaning toys can also be handed in at the town hall.

A spokesperson for the town council said: "This year Biddulph Sainsburys and Argos toy appeal will support local Biddulph children that are facing difficult circumstances this winter; they may not experience the excitement all children should have on Christmas morning, finding presents under the tree.

"Your kindness can have a positive influence in the Biddulph community this Christmas.

"Please share to your friends and family to support the Toy Appeal and help Santa find his way to all the children in Biddulph this year."

Advice for toy donations is as follows:

  • Please only donate new, in box items. Sainsbury's would like to be able to accept pre-owned toys, but can't this year due to Coronavirus restrictions.
  • No war/violent themed gifts - these are unsuitable as a portion of the children that are supported by the appeal have been exposed to violence in the home (although comic book superheroes and Star Wars are perfectly fine).
  • Don't forget the teens - The Christmas Toy appeal supports children of ages 0-17. Often forgotten are the young teens who are equally subject to the hardships that befall some families. Gifts such as toiletries/grooming sets, fashionable wear/accessories and winter clothing make great gifts for young tweens/teens.
  • No gift wrap needed - All donated toys will be wrapped in advance.
  • Batteries - If not already included, supplying batteries along with the gift is a great idea - the batteries you supply should be attached securely to the gift.
