A Biddulph café has applied for planning permission to become a bar.

The application was submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council this week by a Mr N Calvert, and it relates to The Yard café on Biddulph High Street.

The café, which is located at 35 High Street by the mini-roundabout, currently serves coffee, milkshakes and cakes.

But it may soon be swapping buns for booze if its proposal for a change of use from a café to a bar is granted.

If they are given permission to become a bar, the applicant hopes to be able to open from 1pm - 11pm from Mondays to Saturdays, and 1pm to 8pm on Sundays.

Details on the application are currently scarce, due to it only just being submitted this week.

However, as the application process continues, more details are likely to become available on the district council's planning portal, which can be found here.

The district council will make a decision on the application at a later date.
