A group of Biddulph cyclists are taking on a tough challenge this week to raise money for a great cause.

Five cycling enthusiasts from the town are cycling the length of Wales to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

The group are setting off on Thursday for the gruelling ride which will see them cover up to 250 miles with plenty of hills along the way.

The trek was organised by Biddulph physio Mark Chadwick, who wanted to raise money for the lung cancer foundation after his friend was diagnosed with the illness.

He said: "I have chosen this charity as a friend from Biddulph was diagnosed in September 2020 and is having treatment at the moment.

"She told me that when she was diagnosed, the care and support that the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation gave her helped her to get through such a difficult time. That was a good enough reason for me.

"My ride will be about 200 - 250 very hilly miles. It will take me 4 days, because I am not an elite cyclist! I have persuaded 4 fellow cyclists from Biddulph to take up the challenge with me."

The group will by cycling from the Southstack Lighthouse in Anglesey, at the northern tip of Wales, all the way down to the Severn Bridge, near Bristol.

The group have raised an impressive total of £370 so far. If you would like to contribute to the fundraiser, visit their JustGiving page by clicking here.
