A architecture firm started by a young man from Biddulph are celebrating after winning a national award.

ICI Architecture won in the 'Construction and Building Services Start-Up' Midlands category at the annual 'StartUp Awards National Series'.

Biddulph-based Architectural Technologist Jordan Kirkham (26) went down to a ceremony in Birmingham with his parents to find out he won.

"I was very surprised to win, there was other companies that were bigger or equally publicising a lot larger revenues," said Jordan.

"All companies had to be within the three year category mark, and all the other categories had more staff than us too.

"But winning this award for ICI now means we can build even more credibility, and it shows to clients the fruits of our labour.

"We also now have a view of expanding, possibly taking on more Architectural Technologists to assist with new enquiries we are getting through.

"And there's now potential to hire more Admin Support as well.

"Thank you to my three current staff for their work in helping achieve this award."

Founded in November 2020, the architecture business design houses, malls, eateries and theme parks.

They have an office in Congleton on 3 Chapel Street. But also let their team work from home, including Biddulph resident Jordan.

Jordan has local clients, as well as ones from all over the world, both of which will increase now that ICI Architecture have won a national award.

A recent nearby project of the Congleton architecture firm includes new Indian restaurant Bombaye Junction, in Crewe Market Hall, located 17 miles from Biddulph.

"We've completed 132 projects this year", added Jordan.

"For the next couple years, we're set to start a company which creates product placement in the metaverse, and hope to work with local manufacturers.

"I will also keep running our side business Designology Group which creates sustainable interior design for offices.

"I like being based in Grosvenor House in Congleton, I wanted something close to my home in Biddulph, but not miles away.

"It felt like the right base for it, especially now with all the investment they are doing in the town centre.

"I've lived in Biddulph all my life. I went to Biddulph High School [on Conway Road].

"I've stayed here, I like it because it is quite quick and easy to get into Manchester or London.

"So you get the balance of city life plus being in the country, particularly where I live with Biddulph Grange being five minutes from where I live."

Jordan's new business is now entering two more national award categories, following this latest success.
