A Biddulph triathlete has raised thousands for charity by cycling around the world - and she did it all from the comfort of her own home!
Since the start of 2021 Beth Eardley has been working on her challenge to cycle the distance around the world on an exercise bike - a route that saw her cover around 18,000 miles.
Biddulph Nub News spoke to Beth about her challenge just after she started back in February 2021, when she had just achieved the equivalent of cycling to Russia.
To achieve the feat she needed to cycle an average of around 50 miles per day every single day of 2021.
Upon completing the challenge Beth had raised an incredible £3,390 for the Alzheimer's Society.
She said: "It's over! I feel so elated. I can't believe how much money has been raised and how fantastic everyone has been.
"I am so grateful, more than I can say, for the wonderful support of everyone over the last year. I couldn't have done any of it without the help and support of some very special people.
"But that's it, 18,000 miles and over £3,000 raised now! How incredible. The Alzheimer's society will be well and truly chuffed to bits with this!"
Being an accomplished triathlete Beth is no stranger to taking on tough fitness challenges, having previously cycled the distance of Route 66 - some 2,500 miles - but her virtual round the world trip was her most demanding challenge yet.
She decided to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society after her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
