A Brown Edge pub has been praised as one of the best around after winning a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award.

The awards are picked by the travel review company to award the "very best" experiences listed on its website, with the Top Pub at Hill Top, Brown Edge being named as one of this year's recipients.

A spokesperson for TripAdvisor told the pub: "Congratulations Top Pub Brown Edge on being a Travellers' Choice winner.

"Each year, we comb through reviews, ratings and saves from Travellers everywhere, and use that info to award the very best.

"You're part of an exclusive group, and we want to help you celebrate (and promote) this major accomplishment."

Following the announcement of the award, the pub has received many messages of congratulations from its customers on social media.

The pub currently has a 4.5 out of 5 rating on TripAdvisor, from 190 reviews.

The most recent review, posted one week ago with a rating of 5 out of 5, calls the pub "organised and clean" with a "reasonably priced menu".

It adds: "Nothing fancy but a very fair price for pub grub served by friendly staff."
