The situation in the Moorlands continues to look relatively positive when it comes to Coronavirus, with zero new deaths caused by the virus being recorded in the district for the second week in a row, according to the latest weekly figures.
No new deaths were recorded in last week's figures for the first time since March, and that trend has been repeated in the latest weekly statistics released today (Tuesday) by the Office for National Statistics.
The figures state that nobody from the Moorlands died due to Coronavirus in the week ending Friday, July 24th.
It means that the number of people who have died from Coronavirus in the Moorlands remains at 78, the same figure as last week and the week before.
However, two new cases of the virus were recorded in the last week, now bringing the total number of recorded cases in the district to 378.
In total, 55 of the 78 Coronavirus deaths occurred in hospitals, 15 took place in care homes, three people died in "other communal establishments", three died at home, one died at a hospice and one death was recorded "elsewhere".
Coronavirus has been involved in around 11% of all deaths in the Moorlands since the start of the year, with 692 people dying from all causes in the district so far in 2020.
