Covid marshals inspect Biddulph Wetherspoons after customer catches Coronavirus
Council Coronavirus inspectors visited Biddulph's branch of Wetherspoons after a customer tested positive for Covid-19.
The customer said they had concerns about the measures The Bradley Green on Biddulph High Street had in place to stop the spread of the virus.
However, the pub was given the all-clear after Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's inspectors visited.
The customer claimed that the pub did not ask him to provide test and trace information or tell him about the social distancing rules during his visit on Monday, 19th April.
But a spokesperson for the chain said the pub's CCTV at the time showed that social distancing was being observed.
A Wetherspoon's spokesperson told Nub News: "We have been informed by the EHO that a man who visited the pub on Monday 19th April has tested positive for COVID 19. It has not been suggested that transmission took place in the pub.
"We understand that the man told EHO that he had not been asked to provide any test and trace information during his visit to the pub, and was not told about social distancing rules.
"After a review of the pubs test and trace system, the EHO was satisfied that it was operating correctly.
"A check of the pub's CCTV system for time in question shows that social distancing was being observed and all customers were seated.
"The pub's COVID rules are prominently displayed at the entrance to the pub and in the garden area.
"We have not been made aware of any other customers who have tested positive for COVID 19 since the re-opening of the pub.
"The pub takes its responsibilities seriously and we are confident that all COVID safety procedures including test and trace are being carried out to the necessary standards."
A council spokesperson confirmed that the authority's Covid inspectors visited the premises and found that it was abiding by the current rules, and no further positive cases have been recorded among customers or staff.
