Elections 2021: Biddulph Conservative candidate Ian Lawson explains why you should vote for him
It's election time, and candidates all over the country are battling for the public's votes ahead of the big day on May 6th.
This also goes for Biddulph, where two seats at Staffordshire County Council are up for grabs - one in Biddulph North, and one in Biddulph South and Endon.
With the election getting closer by the day, we got in touch with all six Biddulph candidates to ask them to briefly explain in their own words why they think they deserve your vote.
Over the next few days, we will be posting their responses so you can read what they had to say and make your decision.
Next its the turn of Ian Lawson, who is standing in Biddulph North for the Conservative Party.
Ian is one of Biddulph's current county councillors, and has also previously been a Biddulph Town Councillor.
He said: "I have been privileged to represent Biddulph North and West at Staffordshire County Council for the past 12 Years, and I have always considered it my responsibility to not only act in the best interests of my constituents, but also to keep them informed of matters of interest, by writing letters to the Biddulph Chronicle every week, and, prior to Covid, holding monthly drop in sessions at the Biddulph Conservative Club, when issues of concern are were addressed, and, post Covid I hope to re-start them.
"I fully support all our great town has to offer, providing healthy and enjoyable lifestyle. I fully support our community associations and groups.
"I was a founder member of Friends of Newpool Meadows, I met with District Council and got an agreement on Biddulph Sports Village, which is now fully operational (Bowling Club and Halls Road).
"I support the Evergreens and of course Biddulph in Bloom team, of which I am a member to name but a few.
"Do believe that many promises are made leading up to elections, but not easily kept, but there is one promise I can make, and that is, if the Constituents of Biddulph North, Moor and West entrust me to be their County Councillor, I will work to the best of my ability, drawing on my experiences of the last 12 years.
"I would be most honoured to go forward seeking to ensure that our Garden Town of Staffordshire gets absolutely the very best representation possible at Staffordshire County Council."
