Firefighters were called to Lucerne Road, Biddulph, at 1:15pm today (Tuesday 21 December) following reports of a fire.

Crews from Hanley and Sandyford attended the scene two minutes later and discovered a fire on the first floor of a three storey property.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze at 1:43pm.

No one was injured.

A ventilation device was used to extract excess smoke from the property.

An investigator later determined the cause to be accidental – caused by faulty LED lights.
