People in Biddulph and around Staffordshire are being invited to collect a free tree to plant in their garden as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Staffordshire County Council are making 1,000 free trees available for residents to plant in their gardens at home.

The trees will be available to pick up from the following country parks on Sunday 20th March between 10am and 3pm:

- Apedale Energy Centre

- Greenway Bank Visitor Centre

- Deep Hayes Visitor Centre

- Cannock Chase Visitor Centre, Marquis Drive

- Chasewater Innovation Centre

Simon Tagg, Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Infrastructure and Climate Change said: "The Queen's Platinum Jubilee will be a fantastic weekend of celebrations with something for everyone.

"The Queen's Green Canopy project is an important part of the Jubilee plans and it's great that Staffordshire is able to play its part. Gardens in the UK make up a larger area than all our nature reserves put together, so if we all do our bit and plant one of these 1,000 trees, we'll help create greener communities and help us all breathe cleaner air."

With every tree collected, people will get a leaflet about other ways to make their gardens at home more sustainable, to tackle climate change and help wildlife.

Once planted, people can also register their tree on the Queen's Green Canopy website.
