Almost 17,000,000 people have received the Covid vaccine across the UK so far, according to the latest Government figures published on Friday.

The figures reveal that a total of 16,875,536 people have been vaccinated nationally - which is around a quarter of the country's population.

But how many people have received the jab in the local area?

In the area covered by NHS North Staffordshire CCG, a total of 35,567 over 70s have received the jab, giving a very high uptake rate of 98.8%.

This is the highest uptake rate of any part of the county, as seen below:

- NHS Cannock Chase CCG - 19,358 over 70s jabbed with a 97.2% uptake rate

- NHS East Staffordshire CCG - 17,937 over 70s jabbed with a 96.4% uptake rate

- NHS South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula CCG - 36,568 over 70s jabbed with a 96.3% uptake rate

- NHS Stafford and Surrounds CCG - 26,490 over 70s jabbed with a 98.5% uptake rate

- NHS Stoke on Trent CCG - 32,280 over 70s jabbed with a 96.5% uptake rate

Health chiefs are now focusing on younger age groups with over 65s now being invited to receive the vaccine followed by over 50s in the next few weeks.

It comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson gets ready to announce his "roadmap out of lockdown" today, which will set out a plan to begin easing restrictions across the country.
