Biddulph woman raises hundreds after 100km charity row
Biddulph's Jill Salt raised over £500 for charity after taking on a gruelling 100km endurance challenge on her rowing machine.
Biddulph Nub News reported previously how Jill was planning to take on the row, which was expected to last more than 10 hours.
The teacher and local councillor took on the challenge on Friday (19th February) to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance charity.
And her efforts resulted in hundreds of pounds being raised for the charity - coming to a total of £540 on JustGiving.
Jill said she had "never been so physically broken" following the arduous challenge, and brought the row to an end after 92.5km after a fault with her rowing machine's monitor.
She said: "So with 7.5km left I got off. Just for a rest. I lay on the sofa. Then got back up after about five minutes and the monitor had gone off. I don't know why - maybe it had enough.
"So I jacked it. To be fair I was in a bit of a state. The challenge was hideous, I have never been so physically broken. So no pin badge or certificate for me but I tried my bloody best!
"Thank you so much for your kindness, love, support & generosity- it means the world!"
Those who donated have since congratulated Jill, with one saying: "A critical service to all of us and an incredible challenge by you Jill. Well done on a mammoth row!"
Another added: "Massive congratulations Jill, so proud of you."
The JustGiving page for the row is still up and if you would like to donate, click here.
