More children told to self isolate after fifth Biddulph school records Coronavirus case
More Biddulph children are self isolating after yet another school in the town recently recorded a Coronavirus case.
Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy became the fifth school in the town to record a case, following cases at Biddulph High School, James Bateman Middle School, Knypersley First School and Woodhouse Academy.
Biddulph Nub News reported previously how students at Woodhouse Academy were told to self-isolate after one of the school's pupils tested positive for Coronavirus.
Students at Biddulph High School who were identified as "close contact" with staff members who tested positive were also previously told to self-isolate.
And Year 7 students at James Bateman Middle School were taught remotely after the school recorded its own Coronavirus case.
Now affected students at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy have been told to stay at home until October 31st, before returning to school after half-term on November 3rd.
In a letter to parents, the school's headteacher Ian Beardmore issued advice.
He said: "We have been made aware of a member of our school community who have tested positive for COVID 19.
"We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child.
"Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness. The children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days.
"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."
