A planning application to demolish a set of industrial and storage buildings in Mow Cop before building a new home in their place has been withdrawn.

A Mr R Mitchell applied to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for permission to demolish existing industrial and storage buildings and redevelop the land with a new dwelling and garage.

The application related to a group of buildings just off Biddulph Road in Mow Cop.

A planning statement prepared on behalf of the applicant said: "It is our opinion that the new dwelling application submitted herewith, with this Planning, Design and Access Statement should be considered favourably in regard to the overall site conditions in providing for a new bespoke house design on this individual site against an established backdrop of trees and shrubbery.

"The dwelling proposal does not increase the intensity of use of the site and provides for a single dwelling, where there is likely to be a reduction in the amount of vehicle movements in comparison with a light industrial and storage use. There is no prejudice to the amenity of any neighbouring property and there is no additional impact upon highway safety or congestion caused by this proposal.

"There will be potentially less pollution as a result of allowing this application. This proposal is expected to achieve a high standard of design and will respect the character, pattern and form of the surrounding environment, enhancing the streetscene along Biddulph Road, providing a layout which is in-keeping with the generally residential locality, creating a safe and secure new dwelling, maximising energy efficiency through sustainable design measures."

However, the application has since been withdrawn, meaning unless another application is submitted in the future, the plans will not go ahead.
