Police officers continued to patrol Biddulph over the weekend following an incident of disorder which led to the arrests of seven teenagers in the town.

Biddulph Nub News reported previously how the teens were arrested on suspicion of affray after armed police were called to Biddulph. They have since been released on bail.

A police presence has remained in the town following the incident, and a dispersal order was put in place.

Those arrested included a 15-year-old, 17-year-old, and 18-year-old from Biddulph, a 15-year-old and 16-year-old from Middleport, a 16-year-old from Kidsgrove, and a 16-year-old from Burslem.

Biddulph Nub News also reported how police had carried out drug raids in the town following the arrests.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said on Saturday evening: "Officers continue to patrol Biddulph and still have the dispersal authority in place for the town.

"Officers have also completed a stop and search power in relation to recent issues and will continue to tackle criminal and anti-social behaviour."

They also provided updates on Friday and Thursday, saying on Friday: "Officers continuing to patrol Biddulph and offer reassurance after recent events in the town.

"We have a dispersal order in place tonight should there be any issues."

And adding on Thursday: "Due to the recent incidents in Biddulph area we are out and about in the Biddulph area.

"Any questions or concerns you have please feel free to stop and ask."

Chief Inspector Mark Thorley of the Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Extra officers will be patrolling the area this weekend, the dispersal authority gives them the power to order anyone to leave the area for up to 24hrs if they think they may become involved in criminality or anti-social behaviour if they were to remain.

"Great work from a great team keeping our communities safe and providing reassurance. We will be paying particular attention here through out the weekend."
