Local people are being reminded that there is still time to submit a review of their favourite books with a chance to win prizes and have their reviews published.

The Summer Reads Challenge, being organised by Staffordshire County Council's Library service, is asking people to read any four books and submit short reviews.

People can read and review any book they choose including fiction, non-fiction, classic, autobiography or the latest thriller. E-books and e-audiobooks are all allowed.

'Slade House' by David Mitchell and 'The Salt Path' by Raynor Winn are two of the books already reviewed by Staffordshire library customers.

The best reviews will be shared on the libraries Facebook page with the overall winners receiving prizes of a hamper or book vouchers.

Victoria Wilson, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council said: "Over the summer holidays, we've been challenging people to get reading and to submit short reviews of their favourite novels.

"We all know how we like to talk about our favourite books and this has given people a great chance to write their own review and maybe have it published. This is the first time we have run such a scheme but we hope it will help encourage a love of reading and books and the enjoyment to be had from them.

"All our main libraries are now open with an 'order and collect' service so please order your books online or telephone 0300 1118000. If you can't make it to any of our libraries, remember we have thousands of titles from our eLibrary, so be sure to become a library member to get access to all these titles too. Remember to get your review in before the closing date on 6 September."

People can submit their book reviews and find out more here. Closing date is Sunday 6 September 2020.
