A new Staffordshire volunteer platform has launched this week, to make it easier for local volunteers and groups to connect.

The platform was launched by Staffordshire County Council and Support Staffordshire using the do-it.org volunteer website, creating a Staffordshire section of the website called "Do It - Staffordshire".

Alan White, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said: "Throughout the Coronavirus outbreak, we have seen hundreds of residents across Staffordshire step up to help their neighbours and communities.

"The work of the voluntary sector throughout that period was inspiring and underlined that it is an essential part of our lives.

"As Staffordshire bounces back from Covid-19, we know that we will have to work together to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to prosper, be healthy and happy.

"The new 'Do It – Staffordshire' platform will better support and connect the whole Staffordshire volunteer network online and enable people to carry on with that essential work."

Garry Jones, Chief Executive of Support Staffordshire, added: "We are excited by the potential of Do It Staffordshire.

"There are many volunteer groups already doing great things and a lot of people looking to contribute and this digital platform will make it easier for residents in the county to find local volunteering opportunities."

The system also enables local voluntary organisations, mutual aid groups and charities to digitally share their opportunities for free and manage all the volunteering applications they receive.

You can sign up as a volunteer, or an organisation on Do It Staffordshire here.
