Seven teenagers who were arrested on suspicion of affray after armed police were called to Biddulph have been released on bail.

Biddulph Nub News reported yesterday how officers were called to reports of teens with bladed weapons, placing a dispersal order on the town for 48 hours following the incident.

A police helicopter was seen circling above, and a police presence still remains in Biddulph today, with officers patrolling the area due to the recent incident.

Those arrested include a 15-year-old, 17-year-old, and 18-year-old from Biddulph, a 15-year-old and 16-year-old from Middleport, a 16-year-old from Kidsgrove, and a 16-year-old from Burslem.

They have been released on conditional bail as police continue with their investigation.

Biddulph Nub News also reported how police had carried out drug raids in the town following the arrests.

Chief Inspector Mark Thorley, commander for the Staffordshire Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "A dispersal order will remain for the near future and a patrol plan is in place to ensure extra focus is given to the area. Our officers will continue to do what's necessary to keep the Moorlands a safe place to live, work and visit."

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "Following last night's incident in Biddulph – whereby seven teenagers were arrested on suspicion of affray – officers in the Staffordshire Moorlands have today (16th September) carried out three drugs warrants in the town.

"Controlled drugs and related paraphernalia have been seized with investigations continuing.

"The seven arrested, aged between 15 and 18 and from the Stoke-on-Trent and Biddulph areas, were all subsequently released on conditional bail whilst enquiries continue.
