Hundreds of trees are soon due to be planted in Biddulph as part of plans to create a 'green canopy' in the town, and people have been asked to sign up as volunteers.
Biddulph Town Council has asked them to help plant over 400 trees next weekend.
The planting is taking place as part of the 'Queen's Green Canopy' project.
As a nationwide initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee, the project was due to conclude in December, – the end of the Jubilee year.
However, following the Queen's passing, the initiative will now be extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memory of the Queen.
The project has so far seen over a million trees planted all over the country with many more still to come.
A spokesperson for Biddulph Town Council said: "It's that time of year again, when we start our tree planting activities!
"This Autumn we have 420 trees (very small ones) from the Woodland Trust to plant as part of the Queen's Green Canopy.
"We are proposing to do this on Saturday 12 November, 10am.
"If you have a spade and a couple of hours to spare, please let us know on 01782 498480 or email [email protected] for more information."
