People across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent are being urged to grab a jab during a week of walk-ins.

It means you don't need an appointment, if you are eligible you can just walk in to enjoy protection from COVID-19, the Omicron variant and long COVID.

If you want to know where these are you can use the NHS online walk-in finder or the Together We're Better website to find the most convenient site to get their top-up, first or second dose without an appointment. People who are eligible can also book an appointment on the NHS website.

Dr Paddy Hannigan, Clinical Lead for the vaccination programme in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent said: "We have had tremendous success with our vaccination programme, but COVID is still with us, it's a danger to health and to public services, and we won't be happy until everyone eligible is protected. "If you've been previously reluctant to get vaccination for whatever reason you an visit one of the sites and friendly staff will be happy to talk to you and give you reassurance that getting vaccinated is in your best interests and of those around you." COVID-19 vaccines offer the best protection for individuals against the risk of severe disease and mortality. Though symptoms can be mild for people who are vaccinated, a number of patients who have no immunity to COVID are becoming very ill in hospital intensive care units. The NHS COVID vaccination programme in Staffordshire has delivered over two million jabs since December 2020. He added: "It is never too late for people to get their vaccine as it is an evergreen offer. Vaccination provides powerful protection against severe illness with COVID-19, so getting the jab is the most important thing you can do to protect yourself. Boosters are also vital to maintain a high level of protection because the vaccine starts to 'wear off' as time goes by." The NHS is also this week inviting eligible 16 and 17-year-olds to get their booster as well as those at risk between 12 and 15.
