The winners of the Brown Edge Christmas lights competition have been announced after houses were illuminated to give the area a festive feeling.

The winners can be seen in the images above, and a £50 prize was awarded to each category's winner.

After judging the entries, the parish council said "everywhere looked fantastic" over Christmas.

A Brown Edge Parish Council spokesperson said: "Didn't Brown Edge look absolutely amazing over Christmas? It felt like everybody made an extra special effort in 2020, to lift spirits in any way they could.

"Part of those attempts to make Christmas 2020 as special as possible, were our 'Merry Christmas' signs and of course, our Christmas Lights competition.

"Our judges walked round the village on various occasions and at different times, and it was near impossible to choose. Everywhere looked fantastic.

"Still, the judges did come to a conclusion and our winners have all been notified and given their prize money."

The 'Most Entertaining Lights' category was won by a house on Cross Edge, with £50 being provided by N&J Tree Services.

'Most Beautiful Lights' was won by a display on Woodside Avenue, with £50 being provided by TTI Success Insights UK.

'Lights that capture the Meaning Of Christmas' was awarded to two joint winners on Sandy Lane and Church Road for a nativity scene, and two neighbours who worked together to create a combined display. This categories winners kindly chose to donate their prizes to local charities Brown Edge & Endon 1st Responders and Ruff & Ruby.

A parish council spokesperson added: "Thank you so much to everybody who intentionally or accidentally took part in our Christmas Lights competition! We think we should consider doing it again next year!"
