A 'getting to know you' event is being held in Biddulph to allow local Ukrainian guests and their hosts to chat to each other this week.

The event is being held on Thursday (21st July) at Biddulph Library from 12pm - 2pm.

It will also give Ukrainians and their hosts the chance to explore several other opportunities including:

• Registering for a library card
• Using free online resources
• Learning what other resources are available in the local area

We reported previously that around 40 visas had been issued allowing Ukrainians to come to the Staffordshire Moorlands under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

The scheme allows those fleeing the war in Ukraine to come to the UK if a British citizen has volunteered to provide them with accommodation.

A spokesperson for Biddulph Town Council said: "This Thursday (21st July) Biddulph Library are hosting a Ukrainian Lunchtime Coffee Session.

"If you are a Ukrainian family living locally or if you are hosting a family, please come along."
